Here’s how end-point assessment will impact on your role as a trainer (and why 29 April should be in your diary)

SDN assessor learning

End-point assessment is different and high-stakes. But if apprentices are to succeed, then those involved in the training need to have a really clear understanding of how end-point assessment impacts on their role and how they prepare apprentices for it.

It will, for example, shape the way you measure the apprentices starting point and how you develop your curriculum and training plans – it will also influence how you plan on and off-the-job training, how you monitor the progress of the apprentice throughout the programme, as well as preparation for the gateway.

That’s why, a few months back, we published an article exploring some of these issues in more depth – if you haven’t already, do give it a read!

It’s also why we’re hosting the Apprenticeship Breakthrough Conference for front-line training provider staff on 29 April in Birmingham.

Weighing up the decision to spend a full day at a Conference can be a tricky one. Your time and resource is precious.

So here are 5 reasons why we think you should make space in your busy schedule to join us…

  1. This Conference is different

There are many conferences throughout the year that focus on government policy and horizon scanning. Although these events are important, much of the content has little impact on your day job. The Apprenticeship Breakthrough Conference is different. It will be practical, it will be action-focused and you’ll come away with insights that will change your thinking and day-to-day practice.

  1. It’s a really important topic – and we’ve got A LOT of insights to share

EPAOs have been reporting that up to 50% of apprentices sitting the end-point assessment are inadequately prepared. End-point assessment is different and high stakes, and on-programme trainers need to have a really clear understanding of how they prepare their apprentices for it – from the very start of the apprentices’ journey, right through to gateway.

We’ll be drawing on our work with over 1,000 apprenticeship providers and 50 EPAOs – to share the latest insights, effective practice and resources to help you.

  1. We’ve designed the day to be affordable

We all know that budgets are tight, particularly for front-line staff from smaller training providers. We also know how important this CPD will be apprenticeship practitioners. That’s why we made the decision to keep the price affordable at just £145(+vat), compared to well over £300 for similar conferences of this nature.

  1. We’ve hand-picked speakers who are engaging and know their stuff

It can be frustrating when you attend an event where speakers aren’t engaging or covering a topic that’s directly relevant to you. That’s why we’ve hand-picked our speakers and facilitators – we’ve heard them speak before, they understand what each topic looks like in practice and know how to communicate it in a way that’s helpful.

  1. We’ll really get under the skin of changes to your role and practice

On the day, we’ll be holding two sets of deep-dive Development Sessions exploring what end-point assessment means for your specific role or area of practice. This is where you’ll really be able to get under the skin of what it means for you and your teams, and leave with actions and tools. These sessions form the heart of the day, and draw on our work with 5,000 apprenticeship staff at all levels.

We’re not here to get ‘bums on seats’ – if you’re still unsure the day is for you, drop us an email. If we don’t think the content is exactly what you’re after, we’ll be honest with you.

That said, this is a big CPD opportunity for front-line apprenticeship staff – so don’t miss out!
