Annual Apprenticeship Conference 2024

Thank you to everyone who said hi at AAC 2024 – it was great to see you again!

We hope you enjoyed our workshops, if you couldn’t make it, you can access a summary of the slides here:

Getting your Apprenticeship Costings Right

Getting your apprenticeship pricing right is essential for ESFA compliance and for operating a financially sound apprenticeship programme. Are you clear on what the apprenticeship actually costs you to deliver and where a profit margin can be made? How do you price that to an employer so that you aren’t overclaiming or underclaiming funding?

In this session, we helped you gain an insight into:

  • Understanding some of the trip hazards of eligible and ineligible costs.
  • Exploring costing models and options to get a better understanding of your costs of delivery and margins.
  • Understanding the clear link to effective programme design and delivery

Progress reviews and setting targets – motivating your apprentices to succeed

Done well, progress reviews can give you a clear understanding of the apprentice’s competence and motivate them to succeed. Done badly, and the apprentice can feel demotivated, unsupported and drop out. In this session – drawn from work with over 1,000 apprenticeship providers – we helped you:

  • Explore how best to embed progress reviews into the curriculum
  • Set challenging targets with your apprentices
  • Deliver feedback that sticks
  • Motivate your apprentice to succeed when it gets tough
